Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) October 21, 2013

The Anderson Law Firm is sponsoring Mothers Against Drunk Drivings Walk Like MADD event, to be held at Ridgmar Mall on Saturday, October 26. It is the fourth time the non-competitive, family-friendly 5k walk has been held in Fort Worth to benefit MADDs efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of driving while intoxicated.

Board certified personal injury lawyer Mark Anderson explained why his firm is sponsoring the event: Because we deal with the victims of drunk drivers every day. Our job is to take away the worry our clients have so they can focus on the recovery process or, in the case of a wrongful death situation, allow our clients to focus on the grieving process. Its only natural for us to support MADDs efforts to prevent such accidents from occurring in the first place.

DWI crashes are a major cause of serious injury and fatal auto collisions across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. According to TxDOT, there were 617 DUI crashes in Fort Worth alone in 2012, causing 21 deaths. Statewide, there were 1,099 people killed in motor vehicle wrecks involving a motorist driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Anderson Law Firm is a personal injury law firm headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Under state law, victims of drunk drivers are able to make a civil claim for compensation against intoxicated drivers to cover the cost of their accident-related medical bills, lost income, and other expenses. Many times, the personal injury attorneys at the Anderson Law Firm will work closely with the prosecutors assigned to the related criminal case against the negligent driver, in order to ensure that full justice is delivered on all fronts.

MADD is the nations largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking, and is headquartered in Irving, Texas. All proceeds from the walk will go to support programs to help victims cope, legal support for victims, equipment to local police, collaboration with state and local legislatures to adopt tougher laws, and educational programs.

Walk Like MADD takes place at Ridgmar Mall, 1888 Green Oaks Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76116 on Saturday, October 26. Registration opens at 7:30 am, followed by the opening ceremony at 8:00 am, with the walk scheduled to commence at 8:30 am. The cost to participate is $ 20 for adults, $ 15 for children.
